Due to an amendment to the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), all universities are required to have doctoral student representatives elected from among the doctoral candidates approved by the faculties. Since the summer semester of 2016, Clausthal University of Technology has therefore also had a doctoral student council, or ProV for short. We are composed of the three elected representatives from the faculties and their respective alternates.
We have made it our mission not only to be a body that exists on paper, but also to take active steps. Specifically, this means that we want to improve conditions for doctoral candidates at Clausthal University of Technology and prevent unnecessary additional burdens, which can arise primarily from decisions made by university policy bodies. In addition, we want to provide doctoral students with information that directly affects them and their doctoral studies. Of course, we also serve as a point of contact should problems arise during their doctoral studies.
To achieve these goals, we are represented as members in various university policy bodies, including the faculty councils, the Senate, and the Graduate Academy Council.
