Ombudsman Matters
In 2023, the ProV at Clausthal University of Technology developed and adopted a guide for resolving conflicts arising from the advisor-student relationship. These guidelines offer assistance to both doctoral candidates and advisors and outline various options for addressing conflicts as early as possible.
The goal is to use the guidelines to highlight the various options for conflict resolution, to offer support in the event of problems during the doctoral program, and to facilitate early conflict resolution through the appointment of ombudspersons.
The ombudsperson for doctoral matters advises those seeking guidance and, if both parties agree, can act as a mediator to facilitate discussions and work with the parties involved to reach a mutually agreeable solution.
